How does Duxbury Sports Chiropractic and Fitness treat musculoskeletal conditions?

Scar tissue forms when a tissue has been injured or has been chronically tight. Such adhesions can often lead to motion restriction or compression of nerves or blood vessels. We specialize in numerous soft tissue techniques, primarily Myofascial Release and Graston Technique®. Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy used to treat somatic dysfunction and accompanying pain and restriction of motion. This is accomplished by relaxing contracted muscles, increasing circulation, increasing venous and lymphatic drainage, and stimulating the stretch reflex of muscles and overlying fascia. Graston Technique® is another soft tissue treatment system that utilizes uniquely shaped stainless steel instruments to break down and release scar tissue. To read more click here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myofascial_Release

What is soft tissue and why can it be a problem?

Soft tissue represents all the tissue in the body that connects, moves and supports the body. These include muscles, ligaments, tendons and connective fascia that surround almost everything in the body. Overuse or repetitive strain creates fibrous scar tissue, or “adhesions,” in the soft tissue structures.

How long is a treatment session?

Our specialized treatment approach requires longer office visits. The effect of longer office visits creates a significant decrease in the number of visits. Here at Duxbury Sports Chiropractic and Fitness, we want our patients to take an active role in their treatment by performing prescribed exercise and stretching regimens individually designed for each patient. Our goal is to get the patient well and discharged from care as soon as possible. We do not believe in scheduling office visits for an open-ended program of treatments.
